Appointed Times

April 7, 2020 by beoneadmin

During these days that some people are referring to as uncertain times, let’s remember a promise from the YHWH (God) of all creation that says, “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.” (Genesis 8:22 ESV)  YHWH established the times and seasons to continue on no matter the circumstances. We can always trust that YHWH is in control. He has appointed days for His children to worship, remember, and celebrate. Let’s take some time to consider these days that YHWH created for us to connect with him, so that we can grow into our calling of being holy.  As Peter said in 1 Peter 1:14-16: “As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”

Many people celebrate holidays every year such as easter, christmas, valentine’s day, halloween, and thanksgiving.  Some people only go to church service on christmas, mother’s day and easter. These days can be great times for families and friends to get together, but did you know none of these days are found in the bible?  They are not YHWH’s appointed times. Have you ever considered what YHWH says are his holidays or Holy days? Did you know that YHWH set aside several days in the bible that are Holy, set apart for Him?

Leviticus 23 lists the appointed days of YHWH, they are:

  1. Sabbath (Exodus 20:8-11; Leviticus 23:3; Deuteronomy 5: 12-15; Isaiah 56:1-7)
  2. Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread (Exodus 12; Exodus 13:1-10; Exodus 23:14-17; Leviticus 4:1-8; Deuteronomy 16:1-8)
  3. Firstfruits (Leviticus 23:9-14)
  4. Feast of Weeks or Harvest (Exodus 23:14-17; Leviticus 23:15-22; Deuteronomy 16:9-12)
  5. Day of the Blast or Trumpets (Leviticus 23:23-25)
  6. Day of Atonement (Leviticus 23:26-32)
  7. Feast of Ingathering or Feast of Booths and Eight Day Feast (Leviticus 23:33-44; Deuteronomy 16:13-17)

These days help to sanctify us and prepare us to live in the presence of YHWH in Eternity (Exodus 31:12-17; Revelation 21:22-27).  Each of the appointed times points us to Yeshua (Jesus). The Sabbath points to the rest will have in Yeshua (Matthew 11:28-30 and Hebrews 4:8-11).  We see Yeshua in the Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread in that he died on the day of Passover making him our Passover lamb and He removed the old leaven of sin from our lives (John 19:31-34; 1 Corinthians 5:6-8).  Yeshua is also the firstfruit wave offering because He was raised from the dead on the day of the wave offering (Leviticus 23:9-14 and Mathew 28:1-10). This makes Yeshua the firstfruits of the Resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:20-26). The Feasts of Weeks or Pentecost is when Yeshua sent the helper he promised, the Holy Spirit (John 14: 15-21 and Acts 2) The Day of the blast or Trumpets points to when Yeshua will return (1 Corinthians 15:50-57; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18).  When we observe the day of Atonement, we can look to Yeshua as the final sacrifice for atonement (Hebrews 10:1-18). The feast of ingathering or booths points to Yeshua’ return when He will gather up his people to dwell with Him (Matthew 24:29-31; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18; Revelation 22:1-4). Yeshua and the Apostles observed these days (John 4:16-30; Matthew 26:17-29; John 7:1-39). Paul, the apostle and other followers of Yeshua continued to observe these days after Yeshua’s death (Acts 2:1-2; Acts 12:1-5;Acts 13:14-25; Acts 13:42-49, Acts 15:21; Acts 16:13; Act 17:2-3; Acts 18:4; Acts 20:13-16).

Observing these days was so important that Paul says not to let anyone stop you from observing the sabbaths, festivals, and new moons (Colossians 2:16).  If YHWH says these are his days and Yeshua and his disciples after him observed these days, should not we, as YHWH’s children, observe YHWH’s appointed times over any other holidays?  The Lord made this promise to Soloman that holds true for all his people: “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:13-14 ESV). What actions are we taking to humble ourselves and turn to the way of YHWH so that YHWH will shine his face on us and answer our prayers?

Self-Control – Discipline to Answer the Call

September 1, 2017 by beoneadmin

Self-control2017For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. -2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV)

Self-control–it’s that final aspect in the list of the fruit of the spirit that seems to trip so many of is up.  All of the other aspects give us a green light; we interpret and readily accept them as character traits to embody and put into action.  We want to be loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, and gentle, right.  Then we read self-control.

And something inside us shifts.

Instead of us exploring how we can practice self-control, we shut down a bit because of what we have learned about self-control. We have been tricked into believing that self-control is all about what we don’t do; what we shouldn’t do. When we think about self-control in only this way, it limits our understanding of the power of the Spirit.

See, self-control means we have the discipline to do the work we have been called to do. It helps us to do good for others and to do well for ourselves.  Self-control allows us to see the freedom that comes with having the choice of saying either yes or no.  The more we become like Jesus, the more we will exercise self-control.  Though He is the master of self-control, He is known for what He actually did; not what He avoided.  And like Him, we will be known for both living and living well.

What a blessing!  Self-control moves us toward freedom.

This month, we will be exploring what God’s love letter to us says about self-control.  We are praying that you will join us as we learn to embrace the we freedom gain as we become more self-controlled. #thebeonelife #selfcontrol #fruitofthespirit

Be…Patient

April 1, 2016 by beoneadmin

bepatientThis month’s theme is Be…Patient. Patience is such a difficult characteristic to put into practice. So much so, that we thought of skipping this theme all together. See, the thing about patience is that it is something we all need and want, but none of us want to go through the difficult trials involved in producing patience (Amen?). Patience is not something we are born with; it is a gift from the Holy Spirit.

Every parent who has been through the toddler phase has wished that both they and their child were born with patience. Dealing with the “I can do it myself” stage takes a boat load of patience. As adults, many of us still take the “l can do it myself” attitude with things that only God can handle. Thankfully, we have a loving and patient Heavenly Father that waits for us to hand over our problems.

A healthy, godly marriage also takes patience. When we say, “I do” God joins us together as husband and wife, but neither person knows exactly what they are doing. Each person must learn how to be a godly spouse while being patient with the other as they learn. We must pray for the Spirit to grant us patience as we grow together.

Solomon tells us in Ecc. 3:1, “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.” Right now we are in a time of waiting on the Lord to return. Patience is needed in this liminal space between Jesus’s resurrection and his return. As His disciples, we eagerly await the gift of eternal life with Jesus in heaven, and we have also been instructed to teach and be patient with difficult people (Titus 2:24-26). This month, let us all pray for the Spirit to grant us patience to run the race well. For we know “that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” (James 1:3-4)

Joy When a Sinner Repents

January 15, 2016 by beoneadmin

doublereversewarrior“I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” -Jesus (Luke 15:10)

Do you feel lost? Do you feel far from God? Is there anything in your life that is bounding your heart and suffocating your soul? Jesus says to come to Him–rest your burdens, your sin, your guilt on Him. Repent and sin no more. Confess with your mouth that He is Lord. Be baptized so that Jesus’s blood can wash away each of those sins and rise with a new life in Christ, clean and free, a Child of God. Your Heavenly Father will throw a celebration in heaven for you and say, “For this my child was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ (Matthew 11:28-30; Luke 13:5; John 3:5; Matthew 28:18-20; Romans 6:3-4; John 8:36; 1 John 3:9; Hebrews 10:22; Luke 15:24)

For those of us who are are already in Christ, let us not remain bound by anger and resentment when our spouse, children, or friends wrong us. Forgive them, give it to God, and let it go. Let us be quicker to celebrate when they ask for forgiveness than we are to point out their faults. Let us celebrate with God each time someone repents and turns to him. For now they too get to share in all of God’s rich blessings. Stay Free! (Matthew 6:14; Luke 15:11-32, Galatians 5:1)

God Loves You!

December 11, 2015 by beoneadmin

It’s Freedom Friday!

“Eve picked the fruit and ate some. And Adam ate some, too. And a terrible lie came into the world. It would never leave. It would live on in every human heart, whispering to every one of God’s children: ‘God doesn’t love me.’ (from Jesus Storybook Bible)

We read this as part of our Advent devotional with our kids last night, and I have to admit that it cut me to my heart. Isn’t this so true? So many of us (even if we don’t say it out loud) feel like this more often than not. It shows up in the not enough, the do mores, the try harders, the move fasters, and the get mores of life.

Here’s the truth, friend. God loves you! He loves you and me and him and her. “You see, no matter what, in spite of everything, God would love his children–with a Never Stopping, Never Giving Up, Unbreaking, Always and Forever Love.”

God loves you, and He wants to BE with you. He wants you to BE whole, and He wants you to BE ONE integrated BEing that loves Him with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength.

In light of this, God has placed a ministry in our hearts. My husband and I have JUST launched a new ministry that is focused on cultivating wholeness for Christian families. We have seen what the Always and Forever Love of God can do to change people, to change marriages, and to change families. We want to share that with others, with you.

I almost didn’t write this post. The devil was whispering “God doesn’t love you–beoneFByou’re not equipped to do this” over and over in my ear. But I AM FREE in Christ, so I’m doing it anyway. I believe God’s TRUTH. Please go and “like” our page so that you can keep up with all the good stuff that God is going to use this ministry to do. We are also on instagram @thebeonelife  if that’s more your thing.

I love you all! Happy Freedom Friday!  www.facebook.com/thebeonelife

Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. -Ephesians 4:3-4 (NLT) What is peace? How can we live in it? Peace is not just the absence of […]
